Discussing Social Impact Assessment

The Social Return on Investment Network launch new Wiki VOIS Database of Values, Outcomes and Indicators for Stakeholders

The Social Return on Investment (SROI) Network is pleased to announce the launch of the new database of values, outcomes and indicators for stakeholders (VOIS).

Wiki VOIS, which was unveiled on Friday 17th February 2012 by CEO Jeremy Nicholls at The SROI Network International Conference – “A Time for Social Value” has been designed as an open resource for collecting information on outcomes, indicators and values. Rather than determining what these should be in advance, users will be able to discuss and rank entries, and members of the SROI network will be able to edit entries.

VOIS, which is an abbreviation of values, outcomes, indicators and stakeholders, aims to give a voice to people who experience outcomes not recognised in prices in existing markets. The database is suitable for any individual or organisation who is interested in the outcomes of their work, and the ways in which these outcomes can be valued and measured.

One of the objectives of Wiki VOIS is to develop more commonality for the use of values. At present, the opportunity to share and communicate value is limited, not exclusively but significantly, to exchange value.

Jeremy Nicholls, CEO of The SROI Network said –

“We hope this will be an international resource for analysts, evaluators and anybody interested in the outcomes of their work or activities, across all sectors.”

During the launch, SROI Network director Jenni Inglis stated –

“It feels like there is a community growing around Wiki VOIS already.”

CAN Enterprise also describe the database as –

“A very exciting, potentially game changing development.”

Wiki VOIS will provide any user with the opportunity to add information on outcomes, indicators and values through simple forms and existing entries can be discussed and debated. Each entry can then be rated depending on how useful they are, so that users can provide feedback separately to the process of developing content and so that others can see which entries have proved most useful – much like a Trip advisor for outcomes, indicators and values.
